What is general dentistry?

General dentistry is the primary dental care for people of all ages. As a general dentistry practice, OraSmiles, PC is your main dental care provider and is responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of your overall oral health needs. This includes gum care, root canals, fillings, crowns, bridges, and preventive education.

The American Dental Association recommends visiting your dentist at least twice a year for a regular check-up and professional cleaning. However, depending on your oral health needs, our team may recommend more frequent visits.

A standard check-up usually involves two parts: a thorough examination and a professional cleaning. The dentist or hygienist will perform an oral examination to check for any signs of tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral health issues. We also use dental X-rays to get a clearer picture of your oral health. Our team will then remove plaque and tartar from your teeth and polish them.

We offer a wide range of general dentistry services to meet the needs of the whole family. This includes dental exams and cleanings, fluoride treatments and sealants, tooth-colored fillings, crowns, bridges, root canal, extractions and other restorative procedures. We also offer cosmetic services like teeth whitening.

To help us with your chart, we ask that you bring any completed patient forms, your dental insurance card, and a valid form of identification. If you have any recent dental X-rays from a previous dentist, bringing those can also be helpful.

We accept most major dental insurance plans and are happy to help you understand your coverage and benefits. We can also help you with the necessary paperwork to file your insurance claims. We are a preferred provider for delta dental insurance plans. Please contact our office with your insurance information, and we would be happy to verify your coverage.

Preventing tooth decay starts with good oral hygiene. This includes brushing your teeth at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, flossing daily, and limiting your intake of sugary foods and drinks. Regular dental check-ups and cleanings at OraSmiles, PC are also crucial for prevention.

We can discuss several options for replacing a missing tooth, including dental implants, bridges, and dentures. The best option for you will depend on various factors, including your overall oral health, the number of missing teeth, and your budget. Our team will work with you to find the most suitable solution.

With the use of local anesthetic, the process of getting a filling is usually not painful. You may feel some pressure, but the area will be numb. After the procedure, it’s normal to experience some sensitivity, but this should subside within a few days.
